Acute Medication

info is prescribed medication for a temporary condition or illness or prescribed medication to relieve the symptoms of infections, sprains, etc.

Members are advised to shop around to secure the best discount from pharmacies for their acute medication requirements. Reduced costs will enable members to purchase more within their savings account.


Chronic Medication

info Chronic medication is medication taken continuously for a period of three months or longer for chronic conditions that are usually recognised as life threatening.

Chronic medication is subject to pre-authorisation by the Medicine Risk Management Department. Please review our Medicine Risk Management Programme. This is compulsory or your acute medication benefit will be used.

Once authorised, chronic medication is covered at 100% of the single exit price. The Scheme will pay for the medication according to the chronic medication formulary reference price.

There are annual limits on this benefit for non-PMB conditions.
