Acute Medication

info Prescribed medication for a temporary medical condition or to relieve the symptoms of infections, sprains, etc.

info Paid from the member’s medical savings account (MSA).

We advise you to ‘shop around’ at pharmacies for the best prices on acute medication. Reduced costs will enable you to purchase more within your MSA.


Chronic Medication

info Chronic medication is taken continuously for a period of three months or longer for the treatment of chronic conditions that are considered as life threatening.

Chronic medication is subject to pre-authorisation by the Medicine Risk Management (MRM) Programme. Please review our Medicine Risk Management Programme.

Once authorised as chronic medication on the MRM Programme, it is covered at 100% of the single exit price (SEP) and the dispensing fee. The Scheme will pay for the medication according to the chronic medication formulary reference price. There are annual limits on this benefit for non-PMB conditions. Please refer to your Member Guide for more information.
